This work captures the Fiescher Glacier in a state of transition, with particular attention to the visible signs of its constant movement. The glacier, like all landscapes, is in perpetual motion – advancing, melting, transforming.
The painting reflects the fragility of attempting to fix a single moment in time. Even as the surface is rendered in detail, the actual landscape is already shifting. By the time the work is complete, the original scene no longer exists in its exact form. What remains is a trace – a fleeting imprint of something that has already begun to change.
